UK Tech Blog is becoming part of FYRTEK

When I started UK Tech Blog, the name made sense.

It was clear, direct, and did exactly what it said on the tin. I wanted somewhere to write about technology, gadgets, keyboards, and the bits of gear that I was using in everyday life. At the time, calling it UK Tech Blog felt practical.

But over time, I’ve realised that the name does not quite fit what the site has become, or where I want it to go next.

The “UK” part makes the site sound more local than I intended. While I am based in the UK, and I will still talk about UK availability, UK retailers, and products I buy from UK stores, I do not want the project to feel limited by geography.

The “Tech Blog” part is also a bit too broad and a bit too plain. It describes the category, but not really the personality behind it.

So, I’ve decided to start bringing UK Tech Blog into FYRTEK.

FYRTEK is a name I’ve been using for another project, and it feels like a better home for what I want to create. The name is a portmanteau of “fire” and “tech”, which fits the two main parts of the site.

FYR is for the music.

TEK is for the gear.

The music side will cover heavy music, metal, heavygaze, shoegaze, blackgaze, post-rock, and the kinds of sounds that keep me coming back for more.

The tech side will cover mechanical keyboards, switches, keycaps, desk gear, gadgets, and the technology that makes everyday life feel a bit more personal.

That means the heart of UK Tech Blog is not disappearing. The keyboard reviews, gear posts, product thoughts, and hands-on impressions will continue. They will just have a stronger home under FYRTEK.

This also gives me more room to write naturally.

A keyboard is not just a keyboard to me. It is sound, feel, design, preference, and personality. Music is not just something I listen to in the background. It shapes how I think, write, work, and unwind.

In that sense, music and tech do not feel like two completely separate things. They are both about texture. They are both about atmosphere. They are both about the small details that make something connect.

That is what I want FYRTEK to be.

A home for heavy music, mechanical keyboards, useful gear, personal reviews, and the little rabbit holes that make hobbies worth having.

For now, UK Tech Blog will remain online. I do not want to suddenly break links or lose the posts that are already here. Over time, though, new content will start moving towards FYRTEK, and I will gradually work out the best way to bring everything together properly.

If you have read, shared, commented on, or supported UK Tech Blog in any way, thank you.

This started as a simple tech blog. It is now becoming something a bit more personal, a bit more focused, and hopefully a bit more memorable.

UK Tech Blog is becoming part of FYRTEK.

The fire stays. The tech stays.

It just finally has the right name.
